Back home

We made it back home last night safely, and thoroughly exhausted. Before catching out flight, we stopped by St. Patrick's Cathedral again for a tour inside. This is probably the most beautiful building (at least that I've been to) in the country. The overwhelming sense of peace and calm inside made it an especially moving experience. Afterwards we hopped on the subway and made our way to Times Square again. As we passed by the NY Times, naturally had to take a quick snap :-)

It's great to be back home where I can stretch out my arms and not hit 15 people... NY is basically one big traffic jam involving 8 million people. I have come to appreciate a little space here in BG!

More Sunday sights

We managed to squeeze in a few more sights last night as well... Ground Zero and the Statue of Liberty. It was too far away to get a close shot... at night, but the clouds over the statue were really cool! Kelly got a great shot of me riding the subway, too.

Sunday in the Bronx

Yesterday was the whole reason for our trip to New York. We were in attendance at Yankee Stadium to see Pope Benedict XVI with our good friends and about 60,000 other people - the population of Bowling Green - from around the country. It was simply amazing. The energy of the crowd and the peaceful nature of the pope were truly wonderful experiences.

I shot everything above with Kelly's little Canon A630 point-and-shoot... not bad huh? :-)

Manhattan

We hit the ground running yesterday, seeing a good portion of Manhattan, including the American Museum of Natural History, Central Park, the Met to see Van Gogh, Monet and Picasso, Grand Central Station, Chrysler Bldg and the nightcap of the Empire State Building observatory. NYC is quite a bit different than San Francisco! Both cities are amazing, and offer completely different experiences.

Today is our big day in Yankee Stadium!

On the ground in NYC

We made it to the big city and hit the ground running! We stopped by St. Patrick's Cathedral, Times Square, Rockerfeller Center and (of course) the 5th Ave. Apple Store. We have one day of sightseeing before tomorrow's big event.

In the air again

We made it to NYC yesterday, and with all the air traffic around the area, we were put in two holding patterns on our way here. So I came up with a new blog game: "Name this Town!" We circled two towns in our holding patterns, so here is the first...

Above, we were in Virginia, around the Chesapeake Bay area.

For our second circle, I think we may have been in the New Jersey area, so this is town #2.

Great start to 2008

It feels great to be shooting again, and the start of the 2008 season has been wonderful! Diane and Jeff's wedding in Oxford, OH was simply stunning. It was really, really hard to select the few to post here... I'll have the full wedding posted next week!

The San Francisco wedding was stellar as well, so I'll have the highlights from Emily & Jan's ceremony soon, too!
